Exercise Reduces Risk Of Cancer
The American Institute for Cancer Research recently noted that several scientific studies have linked physical activity with reduced cancer risk. Specifically, regular exercise reduces the risk of colon cancer by nearly half and breast cancer by a third.
It is also associated with lower incidences of cancer of the endometrium (the lining of the womb), as well as prostate and lung cancers. To reap these benefits, the institute recommends one hour a day of moderate activity and one hour a week of vigorous activity.

Tips For A Fun Family
Game Night
Parenting experts say that playing games with your kids on a regular basis - ideally once a week - helps to bring families together and teaches children important skills, such as how to be gracious winners or losers. Here are some suggestions on how to have a successful game night:
• Let each family member choose a game to play. Choose at least one game that everyone can play regardless of age so the group doesn't have to be split up the entire night.
• To get your kids excited about game night, wrap up a new game and let them open it that evening.
• Go over rules for behavior, such as staying friendly even if losing, playing fair, and allowing rule changes only if everyone agrees.
• Expect mistakes the first time a new game is played and consider playing a few practice rounds.
• Offer non-greasy snacks like unbuttered popcorn, M&Ms, and pretzels. Use snack tables to hold drinks to avoid spills that could damage the game board.
• Invite other relatives or let your children include their friends.
• Give the winners a small gift, say, a deck of cards or a book of crossword puzzles, or let them choose the snacks or guests for the next game night.
The First Army-Navy Game, Nov. 29, 1890
The first Army-Navy Game was played 116 years ago in West Point, N.Y. Navy beat Army 24 to 0. Three years later, the two teams paired up again with Navy winning 6 to 4, but the resulting match was so injurious - including several fist fights among the fans - that President Grover Cleveland banned the contest for five years. In 1897, President Theodore Roosevelt petitioned Russell Alger, the Secretary of War, to resume the series.
As assistant secretary of the Navy and an athletic man himself, Roosevelt wanted to see the match continue and pointed out that Alger's son was also in favor of seeing the two teams play again. Since then, Army and Navy have played nearly every year, with interruptions in the schedule due to World Wars I and II. The two rivals are well matched, with Navy winning 50 games and Army 49 (this year's match, will be played on December 2, 2006).
